So, I don't know what the best bet is. These past 9 months I've tried the whole Tamoxifen regiment. For those not familiar, it's this pill that blocks your estrogen so as a 30 year old woman I'm beginning to relate to women my mom's age going through menopause. The down fall is that while this medication blocks the estrogen which caused my cancer in the first place it has a way of making the rest of me feel absolutely insane and totally out of touch with my body.
Really? i have to go through five years of this? It's not as if Chemo and Radiation weren't enough or just the acknowledgement of having cancer at 29. No, this supposed "magic" pill feels anything but magic! Research also shows that Tamoxifen can compromise one's fertility if given in combination with Chemo which already tends to weaken your ovaries.
I've heard stories of women getting diagnosed with different cancer while being on this drug (the drug that's supposed to prevent a recurrence of Cancer in the first place).
Okay well one option is not to go back on Tamoxifen all together and save my sanity, but what does this mean, a hysterectomy, or "just" my ovaries removed? Of course if the later is the case I'd have to have $$ to pay for this since fertility treatments are not covered by insurance. Whatever should a premenopasual woman do? Anyone have any suggestions?
